This Privacy Policy explains how Profile Fish (operated at profilefish.com) collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you visit or create an account. By using this site you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Profile Fish is operated by Skua Interactive. For privacy questions, data subject requests, or complaints, contact hello@profilefish.com. We aim to respond to verified requests within 30 days, or within the timeframe required by applicable law (for example, 45 days for California requests).
When you visit, our servers automatically record certain information. This includes your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit, the time and date of your visit, and how long you spend on each page. This is standard for virtually every website on the internet and is collected through analytics software.
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. If you create an account, we also collect the information needed to operate your profile, as described below.
You may sign in with an email magic link, Google, or Discord. Authentication is handled by Supabase, which stores your account identifier, email address, and session data needed to keep you signed in.
Sign-in uses cookies and similar technologies so you stay logged in across pages. You can sign out at any time from your profile menu.
If you complete onboarding, we store a public username (used in your profile URL), an optional display name, an optional bio, and an avatar preset you choose.
Your username, display name, bio, and avatar are visible on your public profile page and on vibes you submit. Choose what you share accordingly.
When you submit vibes, they are linked to your account. We may store a hashed version of your IP address for moderation, spam prevention, and rate limiting. We do not publish your email or raw IP on the site.
We use Supabase for authentication, database hosting, and related infrastructure. OAuth sign-in is also subject to the privacy policies of Google or Discord when you choose those providers.
For more information about how Google collects and uses data in advertising contexts, please visit the Google policies page linked in the Advertising section below.
If you opt in to our newsletter at signup, we use Kit (formerly ConvertKit) to send occasional product updates and news. Kit processes your email address and subscription preferences on our behalf.
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal data on these bases: (1) Contract — to provide accounts, profiles, submissions, and core site features you request; (2) Legitimate interests — to secure the site, prevent abuse, moderate content, and understand aggregated usage, balanced against your rights; (3) Consent — for optional newsletter emails and non-essential cookies or advertising personalization where required; (4) Legal obligation — when we must retain or disclose information to comply with law.
When you sign in or create an account, we record that you agreed to our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy, including the version accepted and the date and time of acceptance. If you opt in to our newsletter, we record your opt-in choice, timestamps, and Kit subscriber identifier. These records are stored in our Supabase database and linked to your account.
We keep account and profile data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your profile, favorites, consent records, and authentication data. Submissions may remain in anonymized or de-identified form. Server and security logs are retained for a limited period needed for operations and abuse prevention. Moderation-related hashed IP data is kept only as long as needed for enforcement. Analytics data is typically retained in aggregated form according to our analytics providers' settings.
We and our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Supabase hosts infrastructure in regions configured for our project. Kit (newsletter), Google (analytics and ads), and OAuth providers may process data in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms offered by our processors.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior lawful processing. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise rights, email hello@profilefish.com from your account email with enough detail for us to verify your request.
You can browse and copy content without an account. You can edit your profile data anytime on your profile edit page. To delete your account, use Remove my account on that same page: we remove your profile, favorites, sign-in data, and unsubscribe you from marketing emails. Submissions you posted may remain on the site without your name attached. If you subscribed to our newsletter, you can unsubscribe on your profile edit page, via the link in any newsletter email, or by contacting us. You can also contact us at hello@profilefish.com for access, correction, portability, or deletion requests.

You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to alert you when a cookie is being sent. If you do this, some parts of the site may not function as expected. Our cookie consent banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies.

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) give you specific rights regarding your personal information.
In the past 12 months we may have collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (such as email address, account ID, and public username), internet or other electronic network activity (such as pages viewed, browser type, and IP address), account or profile information you choose to provide (display name, bio, avatar preset, favorites, and submissions), and commercial information (such as newsletter subscription preferences if you opt in at signup).

We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We may share information with advertising partners, including Google AdSense, for cross-context behavioral advertising. Under California law, this may be considered "sharing" rather than a sale.

We take reasonable steps to protect the information collected through this site, including access controls, encryption in transit (HTTPS), and processor security practices. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We do not make solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you. Automated tools may flag content for human review, but moderation decisions are reviewed by people.
Some browsers offer a Do Not Track (DNT) signal. There is no uniform industry standard for responding to DNT. We currently do not respond to DNT signals, but you can use our cookie banner and browser controls to limit analytics and advertising cookies.

We may ask you to re-accept updated terms at sign-in when versions change.
